Évidemment, cette véritable urne ne contient pas de fleurs pour le moment, parce que l'été n'est pas encore là. Il fait trop froid, les tulipes tardent à éclore et c'est à peine si je commence à travailler la terre. Mais, j'ai de bonnes intentions et un jour ces fleurs s'en donneront à coeur joie en pleine nature.
Of course, this real urn is empty at the moment, because summer's not here yet. Tulips are slow to show themselves and I can hardly work in the garden, because of the weather. But I am ready and willing, and one day these flowers will be for real, instead of just a waterpainting.

Quelles vivantes ces fleurs-ci, Helen! J'aime bien ce bouquet rouge de fort caractère dans le vase; et le lilium, qui est au-dessous, devant le vase, c'est le contrepoint de douceur et délicatesse parfaite. Ah, comment tu aurais profité dans le jardin de la maison du maître Monet...!
