Poppies and some favorite tools

AQUARELLA  -  5  X  7  INCHES
POPPIES

This year, the garden is generous with  poppies, malvas, echinaceas and lots of  weeds (therefore I've added a few leaves).  An aquarella today, beacause I noticed some pastels chalks I was using are cancer risk.  It is written on the box, in very small letters!  :(

Thanks Hilda! Hopefully your pastels are of better quality than mine! I guess I went for the cheap ones...:(

Bonjour ma chère Helen,

Tes coquelicots sont M A G N I F I Q U E S...

Gros bisous ❥❥❥

Dear Helen - how refreshing your flowers are...such a touch you have with these pretty posies. I will have to check out my pastels too - thanks for giving us a heads up! Have a great day.

Helen H Trachy a dit…

Thanks Judy! The only trouble is these flowers don't live long but they sure are worth it.

Thanks Debbie! Hopefully most pastel products are safe enough!

I love the light and transparency of your poppies, Helen! This is an amazing watercolour! I'm curious about the brushes you used. I paint only with squirrel mop brushes and maybe this is the reason I have so many troubles in painting details and small things. Could you name you brushes for me, if you dont mind? Thanks a lot. Have a nice sunday! Bisous

hi Helen, I forgot to say I know pastels are dangerous and I was taught to work with them using a mask to prevent inhale the dust they make and also work in open spaces.

Helen H Trachy a dit…

Thanks for the tip about pastels, Anamaria! I guess I'll do that, wear a mask and if possible work mostly outside.
As for my waterpainting brushes, I use two strokes(square)1/2 inch and 1/4 inch by Princeton Art & Brush Co, plus two round ones, a no 10 and a no 4. At the very end of my paintings I go for the finest, no 1 or 2, to create small details. But this recipe may vary in the future beacause I want to experiment more. A big hug :)

Thanks Celia! I'm just glad I discovered this annoying thing about pastels. Up to now, I never even thought of checking the labels. Happy painting Celia!

Bon matin Cath! :) Gros bisous

Margarita a dit…
