Winter scenery - DAY 29

WNTER SCENERY

I've got to come back to my theme of the Month of January, which is winter.  Yes, of course!  I almost forgot for a while.  I still have one more painting to do before this Challenge is over.

The chalet - DAY 20

AQUARELLA  AND ACRYLIC  -  6  X  6   INCHES
THE CHALET

I woiuld have loved owning a chalet.  I think I woul have spend a lot of time outside in the woods, as much in summer as in winter.  But I can't complain, there's a beautiful mountain nearby with lots of trees and picturesque trails.

Don't ask - DAY 19

AQUARELLA  AND ACRYLIC  -  5  X  7  INCHES
DON'T ASK

The red cardinal is a frequent visitor of the bird feeder.  In cold weather, even when it's snowing, he likes to visit.  Now, does he look happy?  Don't ask!  :)

Happy trio - DAY 18

AQUARELLA  AND ACRYLIC  -  ABOUT 6  X  8  INCHES
HAPPY TRIO

Not easy for birds to get their meals in winter!  Unless someone takes the time to nourish them.  These three look happy enough.

Winter dream - DAY 17

AQUARELLA  AND ACRYLIC  -  5  X  7 INCHES
WINTER DREAM

It's the time of year when I'm beginning to draw plans for the garden and I start dreaming of spring flowers.  A bit early , but January is a long month...

A new friend - DAY 16

AQUARELLA AND ACRYLIC  -  5  X  7  INCHES
A NEW FRIEND

One of the nicest pleasures of winter is making a snowman.  When I was small, each  household had its own snowman, decorated in a thousand ways.  When it melted, we cried and cried...

Tranquillity - DAY 15

AQUARELLA -  5  X  7  INCHES
TRANQUILLITY

I'm surprised I've managed to paint Day 15 of the Challenge  already when I have so little time to paint.  While I was drawing, I had no idea yet of the colors I would used, but I like the peaceful result .

Sweet angel ornement - DAY 14

AQUARELLA  -  5  X  7  INCHES
SWEET ANGEL

A Christmas tree would look real sad without an angel.  There must be three or four little angels of different forms and colors in mine.  Don't  worry, I won't put them all on my blog! :)

Little snowman ornement - DAY 13

AQUARELLA  -  5  X  7  INCHES
LITTLE SNOWMAN ORNEMENT

Here is one of the first Christmas ornements that I place each year in our small Christmas tree!  It reminds me of an old cookie cutter I used to make cookies with when my kids were young.  My sketch is a bit childish, but the Christmas Holidays brings out my fantasy side.

Skate ornement - Day 11

AQUARELLA  -  5  X  7  INCHES
SKATE ORNEMENT

This ornement is one of many,  decorating our small Christmas tree in the living room.  A skate my mother offered me a few years ago.  My tree will have to be removed and placed in the basement one of these days,  but I will draw and paint a few of my favorite ornements before that.

Magical moment - DAY 10

ACRYLIC AND AQUARELLA  -  5  X  7  INCHES
MAGICAL MOMENT

In winter, I like walking in the woods  when the snow's just covered up everything. .  It's the most beautiful sight, nature's just playing its magic.  You can hear the silence  and  I get the feeling that this special moment is just for me.

A ray of light - DAY 9

AQUARELLA AND ACRYLIC  -  5  X  7  INCHES
A RAY OF LIGHT

Light does appear at the oddest place!  Here, hidden under a tree branch.  A ray of sunlight very appreciated at this time of the year when days are still short.

So much white - DAY 8

ACRYLIC AND AQUARELLA -  5  X  7  INCHES
SO MUCH WHITE

Poor little birds who are stuck here in the snow and the cold all winter.  From one year to the next, they could emigrate elsewhere I suppose! But no, a lot of them like to visit our birdfeeders and go back to hide in the cedar hedge.

Quiet mood - DAY 7

AQUARELLA AND GESSO  -  5  X  7  INCHES
QUIET MOOD

This was painted from an old black and white picture.  Sometimes, I like to imagine and create  colors depending on the mood of the moment.  I applied gesso first that I mixed with a few drops of water painting.

Snowstorm on the way - DAY 4

ACRYLIC  -  5  X  7   INCHES
SNOWSTORM  ON THE WAY

Un mélange d'aquarelle at d'acrylique.

Did I say my theme of the month is winter?  Well, it does look like it, doesn't it?  Winter with all its colors, happy or sad.  Here, a storm is on the way.  I painted directly with gray and white acrylic, first the road, then the fence and finally a tree. The mood was set as soon as the sky got its mix of colors .  A mixture of aquarella and acrylic.

Late afternoon visitor - DAY 2

AQUARELLA  -  5  X  7  INCHES
LATE AFTERNOON VISITER

A new visitor just showed himself in our deserted garden.  A lovely hare, very happy to have  his picture taken.   I just had to paint him .  Maybe he'll be back, who knows!

More snow please...

AQUARELLA  -  5  X  7  INCHES
MORE SNOW PLEASE...

I will not send any more post till next January.  So to all of you who celebrate Christmas, I wish you all a Merry one and a Healthy New Year!  Lots of sweet moments in the coming year!  Lets be generous to one another!

Sunset on a sea of ice - Day 19

ACRYLIC  -  7  X  9  INCHES
SUNSET ON A SEA OF ICE
ON CANVAS PANEL

This is from a picture one of my sons sent me from up North Quebec.  There's a lot of ice  and the sun, always  in a hurry to go down in the afternoon.

Kisses ...and best wishes!

To all of you, lots of Kisses and Best Wishes for a Happy Christmas!  I hope the New Year will bring you Health, Joy and happy creations.  Thanks for being always present with your encouragement and interesting comments.

WINTER FUN

There is no snow yet, but it shouldn't be long. I'm getting ready for winter.  Some of us have already finished their Christmas shopping and are ready to decorate.  Here, our fruitcakes are just getting out of the oven.  It's a slow beginning!  These two paintings were made this week  with spatula and brushes.
